Viscount Snowden by any chance? I’m given to understand that most who held office in the ‘National Government’ of the 1930′s were expelled from the party.
Correct. I think all of the nationals got expelled from Labour for it. He may well have accelerated the process though by his denunciations of the equivalent of the Militant tendency at that time.
He’s one of politics’ more interesting figures, particularly given his starting in the Liberal Party.
I wonder if Tim Roll-Pickering would be willing to come over here and enlighten us on this matter.
